Overall this is a very cute piece! I love the way she's holding and playing with her ponytail. Almost look like she's wrapping it around her hooves. I also really like the green background (totally takes me back to elementary school photo days), anything green really compliments her eyes and leaves on her cutie mark. I also didn't notice until I zoomed in but the texture on her hat is really great  The portrait series you started of the mane six is pretty neat!

Your lines are really nice and smooth, and I learned why when I watched the speed paint! You know how to use the line tool :D

The colors are nice and rich. I like her eyes, the lines on her iris make her look more lifelike and make the eyes look less flat. And nit has the perfect amount of highlights (the Littlest Pet Shop type eye highlights some people do is so weird to me, haha), but the swipe of white across her eyes make them look a little glassy or stuffed animal-ish, if that makes sense?

Shading is really bothersome to me and the main reason I wanted to write a critique. I looked through your gallery and noticed you like a LOT of contrast. While it's good not to be timid with contrast (something I struggle with) there is such thing as too much! To me, a lot of it looks very dodge & burned. There are very few mid tones, just lots of severe shadows and vivid highlights. Try going with at least half mid tones. I know it may be a 'style' thing but it loses impact when you could really use high contrast in a dramatic piece, you know?
There is a lot of pillow shading in some areas - namely around her face and cheeks, legs and ear. It is a quick way to cheat a look of three dimensional but definitely a habit that should be kicked. The outlining and individual shading of her freckles and cutie mark look odd, it makes her cutie mark look like a stuck on decal and her freckles look like raised pustules :S Just take off the outlines and shade them along with the rest of her fur :)

Something I first noticed is that her mane is grey-brown. The lightest highlights in her mane are only slightly lighter than her mane is in the show. The way you shaded it makes it look like her mane is basically grey brown with streaks of blonde in it, or that her actual mane color is greyish brown and she really needs to touch up her roots. The individual strand technique you used is good (if a little chunky, especially in her forelock), but the base color of dark brownish grey is not a good choice. Basically if you blurred her entire mane/tail until it was one uniform color, the whole thing would be an icky brownish yellowy grey. Same with her fur color - her fur would turn into a darker orange. Try playing with different colors of shadows, too - cooler or warmer and such.

There is just a whole lot going on in the picture that it's a little overwhelming and difficult to focus on. The eye should keep moving on an art piece, but I'm not even sure where to start here! Overall it's a super cute piece, a fitting expression for Applejack with a perfect touch of femininity in the hair pulling and twirling. You have a lot of potential, I just think your shading and contrast/highlighting technique and some coloring techniques need work. Sometimes minimal is good, give it a try. :)
